9 Tips to Build a Reputable Author Brand that Lasts!

Build a Reputable Author Brand

1.    Be real and authentic.

Your brand needs to represent you, your business, eBook, writing style or the services you provide. You cannot have your brand misrepresent or make false claims about what you are and what you are not.

2.    All successful brands take time to build and grow.

It won’t happen overnight. You must use multiple methods and techniques to build your brand as an author.

3.    Your brand is more than a logo.

It is important that as an author, you realise early on that your brand is more than just your logo, author photo or writing style. Your brand is represented by all these and much more so be sure to take care of every aspect of your branding.

4.    The internet is a powerful tool and has a great memory. Whatever you put out on the internet will be available for ever. As a result, it is difficult to change your brand later on. Once a brand has a bad reputation people will associate that brand with a negative event or experience.

5.    The people around you also represent your brand.

Your brand is defined by you and the people who you may hire to represent you. So be sure that every person along the chain represents you as you want to be represented.

6.    Build a brand that endures the test of time.

The people may change who work for you but the brand and message stays the same regardless. If you write an eBook series then you can have various people contributing to your eBooks but they must still represent your style of writing and the quality you expect.

7.    Be Passionate!

You have to be passionate about what you do and what you write about. If you write about a topic you have little interest in then it will show. You will not be motivated to do the follow up work of eBook marketing and sales. Write about something that you enjoy writing about whether it is fiction or non-fiction.

8.    Follow through on what you say you will do.

Your followers will expect for you to honour your promises and deliver on what you tell them. Mediocrity and complacency will ultimately destroy you and your brand.

9.    Stay on brand!

Let’s say that you need everyone to be speaking the same language so to speak in the message they portray. Everyone in your business or representing you or your eBook needs to be on the same page. Mixed messages will only confuse the readers and target audience.
